UNESCO World Heritage List – Tentative List and İstanbul

In accordance with the Convention Concerning the Protection for the World Cultural and Natural Heritage every State Party shall submit to the World Heritage Committee an inventory (tentative list) of property forming part of the cultural and natural heritage. Nomination Files regarding the properties, which are published on the list by UNESCO World Heritage Center, are submitted to World Heritage Committee. Whilst preparing the tentative lists properties’ status of meeting the criterion defined by the World Heritage Committee as well as their architectural, historical, aesthetic and cultural, economical, social, symbolic and spiritual characteristics are taken into consideration.  

Our Tentative List, which has first been submitted to the UNESCO World Heritage Center in 1994 and updated in 2000, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 20116, 2017, 2018, 2019,2020 and 2021 includes a total of 84 cultural properties of which 4 are mixed (cultural/natural), 3 are natural and 77 are cultural properties.


Yıldız Palace  Complex, Nuruosmaniye Complex are the properties which are registered on the list on behalf of İstanbul.
